Historic Preservation Commission

Historic Preservation in St. Marys is guided by the Historic Preservation Commission which issues Certificates of Appropriateness for projects located within Historic St. Marys. It is the duty of the Historic Preservation Commission to preserve historic and/or architectural value; enhance the Town's historic attractions to tourists; consider the appropriateness of any new alteration, additions, demolition or exterior changes visable to public right-of-way and compatibility to design with the Historic District (including signs); and to approve or deny certificates of appropriateness on a case-by-case basis.  Seven members comprise this commission.  They serve three-year terms.
