The 2008 Property Taxes were billed on November 18, 2009. The due date for taxes was January 25, 2010. The property tax mill rate for 2009 is 5.351. The City tax is based on 40% of the assessed Fair Market Value which is determined by the Camden County Tax Assessor’s office. If you have any questions regarding the assessment of your property value, you must contact the county tax assessor’s office.
Homestead exemptions must be filed at the county office. Once you have filed the exemption with the county, it will carry over for your city taxes as well.
The City does offer a Senior Exemption for ages 65 and above in the amount of $25,000 which is based on the total household income. An application must be filed at the City of St. Marys Property Tax Office before June 1st in order to verify qualification to receive the Senior Exemption. Once you have completed the application process, you do not have to file every year unless there is a change in your household income.
If you have questions about your taxes or about any exemption, please contact our office for more information by email or telephone at:
